The main object of this reference work is to provide electronics students, technicians and engineers with a basic understanding of the different types of instrumentation used for the measurement of quantities commonly encountered in engineering and process plant. The text also intends to enable readers to both understand the jargon of manufacturers' catalogues and select or appreciate the limitations of various instrumentation. The book has been divided into three sections. Part 1 is concerned with the general form of measurement systems and their characteristics; Part 2 with the components used to form measurement systems; and Part 3 with details of instruments and measurement systems for specific types of measurements. The measurements covered are chemical composition, density, displacement, electrical quantities, flow, force, level, pressure, radiation, stress and strain, temperature and vacuum.
